Roopali Mashruwala

Architect · Interior Designer

Roopali Mashruwala is an Architect and Interior Designer in Mumbai, practising since 1999 across residential and commercial interiors and built heritage. She believes every space has an emotion of its own, which should resonate with the personalities of the people who use it.

Her work has no single visual formula. Every project looks and feels different, because every person, every story and every space is different.

About

Roopali Mashruwala smiling, seated at a stone-topped table in a designed interior.

I think of every space as clay. You work with it, mould it, reshape it, until it begins to reveal what it wants to become.

Roopali Mashruwala studied Architecture at the L.S. Raheja School of Architecture, did her Master’s at the University of Michigan, and completed the BHSC course in built heritage and conservation in 2017. Her practice is mainly interior design, alongside selected architectural projects.

Architecture and Interiors

Two facets of one practice.

Dining area at Zara with an oval table, a crystal chandelier, a brass and timber stair railing and a hanging textile.

Interiors

Materials give it texture. Light gives it atmosphere. Objects, art and furniture give it personality.
